A section of the farmers said that the leadership in the centers needs too be changed.

Led by John Ochaga coffee farmer with more than 800 coffee trees said that for the sector to progress the management in the centre must be changed.

“The government is putting measures on how to help coffee farmers in this region but first, the management of cooperatives should be changed since it has been hindering many projects,” said Ochaga.

In addition, he said that leaders should know that they represent farmers and not themselves.

“Farmers have been having issues which needs to be presented to other parties in the coffee sector but due to poor management their grievances have never seen the light of day,” added Ochaga.

Ochaga also claimed that they have never been allowed to elect leaders of choice since the directors always rig elections.
