Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga now says his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, ended ethnicity across the country.

Raila said he decided to work with Jubilee government so as to unite a country that had been polarised by ethnicity and political profiling especially after the August 8, 2017 general elections.

Odinga made the statement when he attended a thanksgiving ceremony for ODM politician John Loisa at Enkorika, in Kajiado Central, accompanied by MP Elijah Memusi, businessman Jimmy Wanjigi among others.

“When I decided to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, political temperatures came down. Everyone is now shaking hands for the good of our country,” Odinga said on Saturday.

While in Kajiado, he engaged with the residents regarding the National Reconciliation Initiative that he embarked on. 

This even as Odinga and Uhuru unveiled a 14-member team appointed to lead in the work of building bridges initiative, who include:

"The 14 advisors shall work under the direction of the Building Bridges Initiative secretariat which is headed by Ambassador Martin Kimani and Mr Paul Mwangi. All communication on behalf of the initiative shall be made by the secretariat," read a communication on Sunday, April 29.
