Kisii County senator Sam Ongeri has said that the historic handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga has leaders in the country.

The ODM senator said that after the handshake, Jubilee and opposition leaders have been working together for the benefit of the people. 

"It is after the handshake that most leaders from the opposition and Government decided to work together. I ask my fellow leaders to learn to forgive and forget," he said. 

He asked politicians in the country to assist President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga to unite the country.

Prof Ongeri also said that he will not let the electorates down and he will ensure that he fulfill's the pledges that he made to them. 

Prof Ongeri also said that he will ensure he performs well on his oversight roles. 

"If I realise that things are not adding up, I will ensure that I speak out and hold the Governor responsible," he said.
