Kenya football team Harambee Stars have exceeded the expectations of many dejected soccer fans after taking an early commanding lead in the Cecafa tourney that kicked off on Sunday at the Bukhungu stadium.

After a quiet start, Kenyan Premier League top scorer and Kariobangi Sharks striker Masoud Juma Choka repaid the faith Kenya tactician Paul Put placed on him to lead the attack together with Gor Mahia's George "Blackberry' Odhiambo by slotting home a cool penalty after Stars player was mishandled in the box in the 25th minute.

Twelve minutes later Midfielder Duncan Otieno pushed Stars fans at the Bukhungu into wild celebration after he pulled what may be considered goal of the tournament as it stands.

Otieno hit the ball with perfect weight and precision from 30 yards to give Harambee Stars the second goal before the interval.

Stars have dominated the midfield against the much fancied Rwandese.

Second half still to come.
