 National women football team Harambee Starlets has been shortlisted for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s National Team of the year, 2017.

According to cafonline.com, Harambee Starlets was nominated alongside Ghana U-20, Nigeria U-20, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Other categories are: Women’s Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Men’s National Team of the Year, Club of the Year, Youth Player of the Year and Referee of the Year.

The awards gala will take place on January 04, 2018 in Ghana’s Capital Accra.

In late September, Harambee Starlets finished fourth in the COSAFA female championship in Zimbabwe after going down 4-2 against Zambia during a third playoff match.

COSAFA is a Southern Africa zone soccer tournament.

The team, which was making a maiden appearance in the event as guests, won all the Pool ‘B’ matches before succumbing 4-0 to the hosts and eventual champions Zimbabwe in the semi-finals.

Harambee Starlets thrashed Mozambique 5-2, defeated Mauritius 11-0 and then wrapped up group B matches with a 1-0 win over Swaziland.
