National Soccer Team Harambee Stars has qualified for the final of this year’s edition of Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.

Harambee Stars reached the final courtesy of a 1-0 win over Burundi in the first semifinal match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Thursday afternoon.

The lone goal was scored by AFC Leopards midfielder Wyvonne Isuza in the 94th minute of extra team.

Thirty extra minutes were added in order for the winner to be determined, after the normal 90 minutes ended with the game locked at 0-0.

Harambee Stars qualified for the semis after leading group A with 8 points following wins over Rwanda and Tanzania, and draws against Zanzibar and Libya in group matches.

Burundi qualified for the semi finals after finishing runners up in group B, behind leaders and defending champions Uganda.

The second semi final will be played on Friday at the Moi stadium in Kisumu, featuring Uganda and Zanzibar.

The winner will face Harambee Stars in the final in Machakos on Sunday.

The last time CEFACA was hosted by Kenya was in 2013. Harambee Stars won the title that year after beating Sudan 2-0 in the final.

Kenya is now on track to win the 6th CECAFA title in history.
