[Photo/Soka.co.ke]The Kenya National soccer team Harambee Stars has climbed up one position in the January 2018 Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) world rankings released on Thursday.

According to FIFA website –Fifa.com, Harambee Stars is now ranked position 105 in the world up from position 106 in the world last month with a total points tally of 317. Niger is now occupying position 106 which Kenya held last month.

In Africa, Kenya is ranked position 25 way back behind neighbors Uganda who are ranked 73rd in the World and 16 in Africa.

Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt, Morrocco, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Algeria occupy the top ten positions in Africa.

Kenya is in the same group F alongside Ghana, Ethiopia and minnows Siera Leone in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.

Qualification matches for the tournament to be held in Cameroon will start in March this year, which each top team in every group getting an automatic qualification spot.

World Champions Germany, five times world Champions Brazil, European Champions Portugal, Belgium, former world and European Champions Spain, Poland Switzerland, France and Chile occupy the top ten spots in the world in latest FIFA rankings.
