Belgian Paul Put has resigned from his position as Kenya National Soccer Team, Harambee Stars head coach. The coach has resigned barely three months after taking the helm of Kenya national football team.
In a message, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed of the Belgian’s resignation.
The message says the coach resigned on personal reasons. His assistant Stanley Okumbi now takes over on an interim capacity until another coach is appointed.
"Football Kenya Federation wishes to inform the general public that Mr. Paul Put has officially resigned as the Kenya National Football Team, Harambee Stars Head Coach, citing personal reasons,” read a section of the Message from FKF.
“In light of the foregoing, FKF has already begun the process of finding a suitable replacement to fill Mr. Put’s position, with Stanley Okumbi taking charge of the national team in the interim period. Lastly, the Federation thanks, Mr. Put for his professional service and utmost commitment during his tenure with the Harambee Stars, this even as we wish him well in his future endeavors," the message adds.
Paul Put was appointed Harambee Stars coach in November 2017. He led the team to the CECAFA title in December.
The Coach has resigned a few days after being linked with a move to Guinea.
