Kenya's Harambee Stars battled their Malawi counterparts to a goalless affair in a friendly match played at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, on Tuesday 18 April.
It was Kenya who got their first chance to pull the trigger in the fifth minute through Simon Mbugua but Lucky Maiata of Malawi intercepted to redirect the shot off the target.
In their second chance, the ball came back to Samuel Onyango but the Ulinzi Stars man shot high above the bar.
Stanley Sanudi's misspass was later to be picked by Cavin Odongo who stepped into the 18-yard box but sent the ball again high above the bar with only the keeper to beat.
Simon Singa's curling free-kick at the other end came unlucky as it similarly rose high above the upper bar to the sigh of Kenyans.
Gilbert Chirwa's left foot shot missed the target by a few inches while Harambee Stars failed to convert another clear goal opportunity after Kennedy Otieno headed wide Onyango's cross albeit being unmarked.
In the second half, Singa made a turn for goal, sending a powerful shot which troubled Matasi for a corner that was similarly squandered.
The lackluster affair ended 0-0.
