Harambee Stars defender Wesley Onguso has now defended his move to Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia terming it a career boost. The lanky backliner previously featured for Sofapaka before his acrimonious exit in the ongoing transfer window that left many fans questioning the decision. However, Onguso said he was looking for a better challenge and only Gor Mahia could provide such."Gor Mahia is a good team where every player would like to play for in his career. There is always pressure that comes with being a player for such a big team but I believe that it is a good move.Sofapaka was also another good side but as a player,I look to move up the ladder. The signings Gor Mahia has made are great in quality and that shows we are prepared for Caf,the league and other duties. My greatest hope is to work with our calm coach ," said the former Western Stima man.
The exit of Gor Mahia captain Musa Mohammed who is likely headed to Albanian side KF Tirana is seen as an opportunity for Onguso to establish himself as one of the regular K'ogallo backliners considering head coach Dylan Kerr is always keen on rotating the squad.
