National Soccer Team Harambee Stars striker Jesse Jackson Were has scoped a top award in Zambia.
The former Tusker FC strike was named Zesco United’s Player of the season during an awards ceremony held Saturday night, after helping the team to the 2017 Zambian Premier League (ZPL) title.
The marksman was also declared Zesco United’s top goal scorer, after scoring 16 league goals for the Ndola based side.
Were’s goals propelled Zesco United to the 2017 league title, their sixth league title in total.
He scored two goals in a 4-2 win over Mighty Mufulira Wanderers at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, on Dec 02 2017.
Zesco finished the season on 74 points, one ahead of outgoing champions Zanaco who also won their final match of the season. Were plays for Zesco United alongside former Gor Mahia defender David Owino Calabar.
The Striker joined the Zambian Champions from Tusker FC in 2015. He has been the team’s top striker for the two consecutive seasons he has been in Zambia.
South African gianst Ajax Cape Town have already shown interest in signing the Kenyan striker.
He has a buy-out clause of Sh16 million having extended his stay in Zambia for further two-years last July.
