For 14-year-old Barack Joseph, it was a dream come true, after scoring 413 marks. A former pupil at Bridge Academy Koru in Kisumu County, Barack had to walk for 14 kilometers through sugar plantations to and from school in search of quality education.Joseph who aspires to be a lawyer credited his good performance to his teachers' support and parents' decision to enroll him in Bridge a few years ago.“I have learned diversity through education. Today, my confidence has improved and I can speak fluent English, a fete that was only but a dream before I joined Bridge,” said an elated Joseph. His success awarded him a place at Friends School Kamusinga, one of the best boys National schools in Kenya! The exploits by the first born in a family of five act as motivation for his parents who are now looking up to him to be a role model to his siblings.“This is the workings of God, his future looks bright,” said his father, who is a small-scale farmer.Bridge pupils outperformed the national Kenyan average for three consecutive years. In 2017, they beat the national average by 10 percentage points which is even more impressive when you think that the national average includes elite public schools.
