A section of politicians and residents from the region now argue that Governor Kibwana could be planning to abandon Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in favor of Mutua.

However, according to political analyst Peter Ngure, Governor Kibwana seems dissatisfied in the Kalonzo led Wiper party and could be looking for a way out.

The analyst argues that while it might not be right  to equate Kibwana and Mutua's  meeting in Makindu over the weekend to 2022 politics, every sign shows that the Makueni is not happy with Kalonzo.

“Governor Kibwana looks dissatisfied in Wiper and might be planning to shift his support somewhere else ahead of 2022 election,” Ngure said.

The analyst said Kalonzo will be in trouble if Kibwana abandons him.

Ngure said the Makueni governor is politically experienced hence Kalonzo needs him ahead of 2022.

There have been speculations that Kibwana could ditch Wiper and work with Jubilee in 2022.

On Saturday, Kibwana endorsed Mutua’s 2022 bid, saying that the Machakos governor is free to campaign in Makueni.

Kibwana, however, called for Kamba unity, saying it is important ahead of the 2022 general election.
