IEBC Commissioner Dr Roslyn Akombe. [Photo|@NationBreaking]IEBC Commissioner Dr Roslyn Akombe has expressed disappointment, following reports that she fleed to the US, Wednesday morning. This is after she was blocked from boarding a plane, Tuesday evening, by airport officers, on claims that she did not have required documentation from the Head of Public Service Francis Kinyua, to leave the country. However, some social media users claimed Akombe was fleeing the country over the disputed presidential election, and government officers were not happy with it, thus blocking her from proceeding with the journey.Below is Akombe's statement on the same."I am deeply concerned at statements attributed to me on my departure from Nairobi. They are completely false and unwarranted. While it is unfortunate that my departure was delayed, I at no time indicated that I am fleeing my beloved Kenya due to questions raised on the credibility of our electoral process. I am on official duty to the United States and will return to continue working with my colleagues on the next stages of our electoral process."She was cleared to travel on Wednesday morning, and would return on Sunday, August 20, according to IEBC.
