[Photo/ PSCU]It seems like President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally succeeded in endearing himself to the people of Kwale and swaying them away from Raila Odinga's led ODM in an attempt to boost his numbers in the August elections. As he has always done for the better part of the year, the President has been pitching camp in the region that overwhelmingly voted for Raila in the 2013 elections. And unlike the rest of the Coastal counties where ODM enjoys a huge following, Kwale is turning out to be a Jubilee friendly zone that can easily be swayed if the right tactics are used.On Thursday, during his second day of the Coast tour, the President marshaled his troops in yet another charm offensive of the region to test the level of his party's penetration of the county. With Governor Salim Mvurya and a host of other MP's who revolted against Raila being his foot soldiers, the President could be satisfied with the level of progress he has made.Uhuru, who gave the residents assurance that the government will not take away their mineral resources, unleashed a blistering attack on Kwale governor hopeful Chirau Ali Mwakwere claiming that the former minister is insincere about his past in as far as the politics of the minerals is concerned.Already, local leaders allied to Jubilee have assured the President that they will ensure he beats his bitter rival, Raila by a huge margin. As for Raila, Kwale residents are slowly charting a new political path at a time when he needs them most.
