KANU chairman Gideon Moi’s pronouncement on Friday will create anxiety in the already beleaguered Jubilee Party which is consolidating its arsenal ahead of the 2017 elections.
The Baringo Senator has said that KANU delegates will decide whether his party will join the National Super Alliance (NASA) soon.
Speaking when receiving the latest defector from Jubilee, Senator Paul Njoroge, the former President Moi's son said: "KANU respects its obligations and until the expiry of the agreement, we are not in a hurry to get into another political agreement. As far as I am concerned, KANU will honour the existing pact for now."
Moi’s announcement comes barely a week after a call from President Uhuru Kenyatta pleading with him not to join NASA.
According to Kenyans.co.ke, Uhuru assured Moi that his interests were well taken care of by the ruling coalition and urged him to stick to the agreement signed by KANU and Jubilee after the 2013 Elections.
NASA seems to be ruffling Jubilee’s feathers and making the coalition uncomfortable since Rift Valley is considered a Jubilee stronghold.
