Opposition alliance NASA leaders are reportedly set to retreat beginning Friday to agree amongst themselves who will be the outfit's presidential candidate during the forthcoming general elections.
In a telephone interview with the Standard Newspaper on Tuesday, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka confirmed that the NASA principals will receive the report by the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) and the David Ndii-led Technical Committee on Thursday, adding that they will deliberate on it during the retreat.
“We are going for a retreat to agree among ourselves who among us will be our presidential candidate and running mate,” he said.
“We put in place the committees to come up with modalities of how we will get a flag-bearer among other assignments. But the onus of saying who it will be is ours,” he added.
Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi further announced that the principals could settle on a presidential candidate through a consensus.
“I know Kenyans are waiting with bated breath to see who among us leads them to send President Uhuru Kenyatta home on August 8. But I am happy that this will soon be made public,” he noted.
Unveiling a presidential candidate would end anxiety and panic witnessed within the Opposition coalition in recent weeks.
