When Paul Nkata made an unexpected move to join Bandari FC just days after Tusker FC were crowned Kenya Premier League Champions, many, especially Bandari FC fans, were expecting immediate fortunes in the club that has perennially struggled for consistency.Upon landing in Mombasa, the Ugandan tactician splashed money during the January transfer window to sign big-name players in a bid to turnaround the team's fortunes. When the 2017 KPL season started, Bandari started on a high note, dismantling team after team even as they moved to the top of the log.Boosted by their mean defense, they went four matches without conceding a goal, something that saw them branded "dark horses" in the title race. However, 5 matches down the line, the team started producing lackluster performances even as they continue struggling for form which has now seen them drop to 7th on the log. The team's poor run of form was summed up on Sunday when they succumbed to an embarrassing 1-0 loss at the hands of league newbies Kariobangi Sharks.Defensively, the Dockers' back line has been leaking of late as they have only kept one clean sheet in the past six outings.Though there are still 23 matches to play, Nkata has a mountain to climb if he is to win back to back KPL titles if the latest form of Bandari is anything to by.For a man who was known for his safety-first approach to football during his tenure at Tusker FC, Nkata's magic seems to have eluded him.
