When Paul Nkata left Tusker FC to coach Bandari FC just days after leading the brewers to their 11th KPL title, many expected him to change the fortunes of the Mombasa-based side almost immediately.
However, the near-hysteria feeling that came with his appointment evaporated almost immediately as the dockers’ went on a winless streak to derail their title push. This is despite kicking off their league campaign on a high note.Pressure started to mount on the Ugandan tactician with many predicting that he was about to be dismissed by the club. However, he survived the axe.During the June transfer window, Bandari was one of the busiest sides where they roped in 8 new players. The recruitment of the new players seems to be finally paying off as confidence in the team has been restored. In their last four matches in all competitions, Bandari have won three matches and lost just once. And two of the wins have come against league giants Gor Mahia and Tusker FC.On Saturday, they booked their place in the GOTV quarter finals after seeing off Nakumatt FC, winning 3-2, a win that renewed their hope to win the cup for the second time in three years.Tight defense, ruthless attack and teamwork is the secret to the team’s new success and in Tanzania Fred Cosmas who is offensively a threat to rival teams, the team is finally on the right track.Defensively, veteran midfielder Noah Abich is an asset as he shields his defenders from direct attacks.
