Wiper Democratic Movement of Kenya (WDM-K) has come out to downplay the resignation of its Secretary General, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui who is the party Organising Secretary dismissed the departure of Omar and that of former Chairman David Musila as inconsequential, assuring party members there is no vacuum left by the duo.
"We wish to state that there is no vacuum in the office of the secretary general and chairman since there are two deputies who serve in each of the offices," Mbui told Saturday Standard.
Former nominated Senator Judy Sijeny and EALA lawmaker Peter Mathuki are the two Wiper deputy secretary generals.
In a letter to the party leader Kalonzo last week, Omar said he resigned to pursue studies and seek justice for the August 8 election in Mombasa.
The former Senator failed in his bid to unseat the incumbent Governor Hassan Joho in a poll conducted last month.
