Since losing the August 8, 2017 gubernatorial race and the subsequent Court battles to Governor Hassan Joho, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has taken low political profile opting to play his game close to his chest.
The former Wiper Secretary General who decamped to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party in the run up to the October 26, repeat presidential poll has rarely made public appearances over the last few months with many left guessing on his next political move. His fate in the ruling party has been brought to question as he has failed to land any government job despite being promised when he ditched opposition.
Perhaps to allay fears that he may be headed to an exit door amid his role within Jubilee, on Thursday, Omar made a rare public appearance when he attended President Uhuru Kenyatta's opening of Dongo Kundu bypass in Mombasa.
In an event which brought leaders from both opposition and government including Joho, the former Senator was present, though he took a background role.
