Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has hit out at Governor Hassan Joho over poor sanitation standards in the county, a situation he says has led to a cholera outbreak.Speaking to journalists in Mombasa Town on Friday, Omar hit out at Joho’s administration, saying the county has the worst sanitation and waste management policies.Omar said residents have been exposed to diseases due to the uncollected huge heaps of garbage lying on the streets, markets and estates. The former Senator said the county has failed to deliver key services despite collecting tax from residents."It is shameful that Joho's government can sit and watch as residents die as a result of a cholera outbreak," said Omar. The Jubilee politician slammed Joho, saying he is advocating for secession yet he has failed to deliver basic services to the people.Omar who unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa governor seat in the August 8 general election asked residents to ‘prepare for another five years of poor service delivery' if Joho remains their governor. Two people have died as result of the cholera outbreak in the county. The county government has since banned food vending in efforts to curb further spread of the disease.
