The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel has recommended two candidates for the appointment of the IEBC chairperson position.
The Bishop Benedette Musundi-led panel recommended Tukore Ole-Kina and Wafula Chebukati from a list of ten candidates, who were shortlisted for the post, to succeed the outgoing Ahamed Issaac Hassan.
The names have already been forwarded to president Uhuru Kenyatta, who will pick one name, and forward it to the National Assembly for vetting and approval.
If approved, the nominee's name will be forwarded to the president for approval and swearing-in.
The IEBC chairperson position was advertised after both Jubilee and Cord coalitions passed an Elections Law, recommending that IEBC commissioners leave office, after Cord accused them of plotting to rig the 2017 general elections in favour of Jubilee.
