There is tension in parts of Nakuru after residents found hate leaflets being circulated by unknown people.
The leaflets warn members of a certain community to leave the town if incumbent Governor Kinuthia Mbugua will be declared winner of the just-concluded Jubilee gubernatorial polls in the county.
"Kinuthia Mbugua akitangazwa kama governor Wakikuyu wahame hii town," reads the text.
The leaflets also have an English version that says the same message.
"If Kinuthia Mbugua is declared the winner Kikuyus prepare to leave."
According to the Star who broke the news, the leaflets surfaced immediately Lee Kinyanjui was declared winner of the governor's ticket.
The leaflets are said to have been found in Muchorwe, Elburgon, Molo and Keringet towns between Thursday and Saturday.
However, members of the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities living in the region have rubbished the orchestrated hatred saying it is a tactic by some politicians to divide the two communities on tribal lines.
"We want police to swiftly investigate politicians who are in record claiming Kinyanjui belongs to the Kalenjin community and does not deserve the top seat," said a resident.
"During campaigns, while in Turi, Mbugua said both Lee and his running mate are from one com, unity and do not deserve the vote," another resident added.
