The wrangles between Kiambu governor William Kabogo and Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu could be over according to sources close to the two.
They say that the two politicians who have not been seeing each other eye to eye have reconciled and that it is a matter of time before the two make public their new found relationship.
Allegedly, Kabogo and Waititu and other Kiambu politicians who have been wrangling have decided to work together for the interests of Kiambu people.
It is said that Governor Kabogo, Waititu and other Kiambu politicians held a brief meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday after a church service at PCEA Kimunyu in Gatundu South where the politicians agreed to shelve their differences and promote peace and unity among their supporters.
Sources say that President Uhuru asked the Kiambu politicians to reconcile and work together ahead of the 2017 general elections.
Governor Kabogo who spoke at the church service said that he has nothing personal against anyone.
He said that he will bring together politicians in Kiambu County for the interests of the people.
Governor Kabogo and Waititu have been engaging in public spats and feuds.
The wrangles between the two politicians have been cited as the major reason why President Uhuru Kenyatta has been avoiding Kiambu County in his tour of Central region.
The President affirmed the same last year.
The rivalry between Kabogo and Waititu started when the Kabete MP declared an interest to vie for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2017. The two have since been wrangling with Kabogo claiming that Waititu has no academic qualifications to hold public office.
Kabogo petitioned Waititu’s academic qualifications in court but the court recently ruled that it has no jurisdiction to handle the matter.
Waititu has been accusing Kabogo of poor leadership. The Kabete MP has also been claiming that governor Kabogo is arrogant and selfish and that he does not deserve to lead Kiambu locals.
Kabogo is seeking to defend his seat in 2017 but faces stiff competition from Waititu and other aspirants who have vowed to send him packing in 2017.
