It is highly unlikely that Cord will be in one piece by the August 2017 election if tendencies by the co-principals are anything to go by.
The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula are seemingly drifting apart, just seven months to the much awaited August 8 election.
The three have been jostling for the flag-bearer position with Kalonzo and Wetangula pushing Raila to endorse them.
At one point in their political rallies, Wetangula said that Raila was a spent force and he needed to pave way for others by supporting someone from the coalition.
The honeymoon may be over.
Wetangula has remained largely self-ostracised to a point of not attending a meeting between Raila and Kalonzo on Thursday last week.
He is seen as the least popular among the three Cord co-principals and according to analysts, there is a likelihood he will not get the ticket.
The Bungoma senator is however not putting all his eggs in one basket and he is allegedly eyeing the Bungoma gubernatorial seat if the coalition will not have him in the inner sanctum.
He has reportedly presented his papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ahead of the deadline. If he missed the IEBC deadline, Wetangula could be in the political cold for five years until the next elections in 2022.
If he goes all out, he will have to face Governor Ken Lusaka who folded his New Ford Kenya Party to form Jubilee Party.
