Renowned city lawyer Nelson Havi has identified the policeman who allegedly killed Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge.
In a tweet on Sunday, the vocal counsel identified the alleged killer as Kiptanui and condemned the act adding that a swift and ruthless punitive measure should be taken against the perpetrator.
He called upon all respective bodies to join hands in pursuit of justice for the family of the slain leader and suggested murder charges against the suspect.
"The policeman who shot dead Meru University student leader has been identified as Kiptanui. Its our expectation that @JBoinnet, @DCI_Kenya, @NPSOfficial_ke, @IPOA_ke will take immediate action toward his prosecution for murder," wrote the Lawyer.
On Saturday, an autopsy conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor disclosed that the killer pulled the trigger with the gun placed against the victim's head, killing him instantly.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has already dispersed officers to probe the killing.
The death elicited a lot of reactions with university students, their leaders and former student leaders calling upon the state to ensure that the killer is brought to book.
