Lawyer Nelson Havi has threatened to sue the Law Society of Kenya after he was barred from the body;s presidential race.
The elections are set to be held in February next year. LSK barred Havi arguing that he has not practised for 15years as required by the advocates act.He claimed that a section of lawyers opposed to his interest had vowed to bow him from taking part in the elections.
"As my advisory are busy on the campaign trail, that will not demoralize us, we will be pursing the litigation in court, at the same time we will be campaigning," Havi said in a video posted in his Twitter page.
"Be assured that Havi's name will be on the ballot, " he added.
In a letter by LSK CEO Mercy Wambua, the society says Havi is not eligible to vie for the president’s seat.
“Upon considering the application for the position of president, we have concluded that Havi is unqualified to vie for the said position as he is yet to attain 15 years in practice from the date of admission,” reads the letter.
Havi was admitted to the bar in 2003 and would not have completed 15 years of practice by the time of the elections.
