Police have launched a crackdown on students in Thika town to apprehend those students who change their uniforms to cause mayhem in the area.
Allegedly, students dressed in civilian clothing have been terrorizing residents and businesses in Thika town in the past few years during their closing day.
Thika West OCPD Shadrack Maithya says that the students have become a nuisance by being rowdy in town the moment they change their uniforms.
Speaking from his office on Thursday, Maithya said that most of the students have been arrested in the night clubs and alcohol dens without identification cards. The drunk students purportedly disturb residents within Thika town while some of them engage in prostitution.
“These students have been a pain during school closing periods. It has become a habit which will not be allowed anymore,” warned Maithya.
Maithya said that most of them engage drugs abuse and they do not reach home the moment their various schools release them to go home.
The police boss cautioned parents to be aware of the whereabouts of their children the moment they leave school to go home during closing periods or else they will not negotiate with them.
He urged parents to always know the dates when schools close and order their children to report home immediately.
