Hawkers who were evicted from Nakuru town Central Business District (CBD) early this year have been urged to adapt new business survival tactics to enable them stay actively in business.
Nakuru Business Owners Association Chairman Thomas Kaberi noted this when he addressed members of the association during a consultative meeting and luncheon that was held at Kunste Hotel in Nakuru town on Wednesday.
According to Kaberi, the recent eviction of the hawkers from the CBD should not dampen their business aspirations and goals, but must be viewed as normal challenges that ought to be motivational for better business activities.
He said, “Most business people who were affected by the recent evictions from the CBD are crying foul and complaining of lack of a source of income. Some have abandoned business while others claim loss of market is driving them to the gallows of poverty.”
Kaberi however said that there is still hope for them to make it even more successfully if only they embraced the challenge positively to explore more avenue.
He added that business calls for innovations on a daily basis therefore hawkers should come up with new strategies of identifying new markets for their goods and services to remain active in business and never to give up.
Kaberi promised that the association would soon organise a collective business opportunities workshop with the Hawkers Association to impart information and inspiration speech to the hawkers.
