School administrators in Nakuru County have been told not to send children with outstanding fees home as it will be unfair to both parents and the children. Speaking to teachers, students, and parents at Afraha Secondary School in Nakuru on Wednesday, Biashara Ward Member of the County Assembly representative said there should be communication between schools and parents to get a solution to this issue. The MCA who is a guardian at the school said dialogue between school administrators and parents is important in upholding academic performance for individual children and schools. According to the MCA, the trend will likely demoralise children and cause lack of concentration for the school children both in secondary and primary school as they try to settle down academically following the end of a recent teachers' strike. He further said that the move would also psychologically affect parents who are struggling in the month of January to make ends meet. “I urge head teachers and administrators in both private and public schools to be considerate. Children have just come back to school after the teachers strike while most parents are struggling to beat the financial difficulties mostly experienced during January season," he added. "Let there be a mutual agreement between parents and administrators so that our children can catch up with academic work,’’ added the MCA.
