Secondary school headteachers in Uasin Gishu county have urged the ministry of education to reconsider its new guidelines on the movement of school buses.
This is after the ministry said all school buses will only be allowed to operate between 6.00am and 6.00pm.
But according to the headteachers, it will be hard for the guidelines to be adhered to.
They argued that most buses are used to transport students to and from various extra curriculum activities most of which end way past 4.30pm.
"When students are in a sports event or let's say a drama festival which ends at 5.00pm and the school is like a two-hour drive away, will they sleep until the next day before they travel," posed Oscar Musamali, Segero Adventist Academy Principal in Eldoret town on Tuesday.
"From the face of it, the guideline is not practical and we ask that it be reconsidered," he added.
The principals, however, said they were ready to adhere to other guidelines including painting their school buses yellow.
