Kiambu County health executive member Jonah Mwangi has met Thika medics in a move to caution them about the ongoing concerns that some of them are directing public medicine to private clinics.
Mwangi said that the information circulating all over the area has reached the governor and he has issued a 14-day notice to all medics owning private clinics to register with his office to ensure they are closely monitored.
“This information has reached the governor and he is not impressed about it. You have therefore been issued with a two weeks’ notice to register with my office if you own any private clinic,” Mwangi said.
He said that he will not let anyone make the public suffer in their hands when they are holding medicine for their benefits.
The CeC said medical facilities have been going missing while the medicine run out so fast, leaving his department with a lot of unanswered questions until the rumours reached him.
“We have been shocked earlier how fast some facilities are missing and other exhausting but at least we now have a clue of what has been happening. We cannot make the public suffer while you are holding their facilities in your clinics,” Mwangi said.
