Members of the National Assembly Health Committee pardoned chairperson Rachel Nyamai and allowed her to continue chairing the Committee.
This is after the Kitui South lawmaker pleaded with MPs who had signed a petition to oust her, urging them to pardon her.
The members had met on Tuesday, and filed a motion of no confidence against Nyamai, calling for her ejection from the Committee.
They claimed she allegedly gagged them during the grilling of Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu and Principal Secretary Dr Nicholas Muraguri over the alleged loss of Sh5 billion at the Health Ministry.
They questioned Nyamai's credibility in chairing the Committee as it investigates the scandal, saying she was partial and favored 'suspects'.
Members who had signed a petition to oust her denounced the petition and warned her from breaching the Committee's Constitution.
The director of Parliamentary Committees Florence Abonyo who attended the meeting advised the MPs on procedures to eject a chairperson from any Parliamentary Committee.
She advised them to serve with impartiality to ensure the Committee's mandates are achieved.
The Committee's deputy chairperson Endebess MP Robert Pokose had recommended the ouster motion be considered in private, for it was an internal matter.
