Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has praised Egerton University for doing great community development work through its research and innovative activities. The CS, who was officially opening the university’s new funeral home on Friday, said the Njoro-based institution has set very high standards. He observed that the university had become a household name in the country and in the region through its unique academic, research and innovations dedicated at serving the people. “I beg to note that Egerton University has become a household name in the country and even regionally. Now and then we learn of new incentives and services being offered here academically and in research,” Macharia said. “This particular project that is dedicated at enhancing learning and serving the public is not a mere thing but a result of research.” He added that the funeral home was a unique service in the country and encouraged other higher learning institutions to learn from Egerton. The Egerton University funeral home is based at the newly constructed Human Anatomy Complex at the main campus in Njoro and will serve as a teaching and research centre as well as serve the public.
