The estimates were tabled in assembly chambers by County Executive Committee in charge of Finance and Planning Mr Reuben Kiamanga in presence of Governor John Nyagarama and all county executive committee members.

Speaking during the session, Kiamanga said the Sh1.9 billion allocation to the health sector will see more services delivered to residents in terms of HIV/Aids, tuberculosis and malaria control, community and environmental health as well as maternal health.

“Mr Speaker, we have allocated Sh1.9 billion to the health of which Sh1.3 billion will go to the recurrent expenditure while Sh600 million will be used to conduct HIV/Aids control programmes, malaria, community Health Services and maternal health,” he said.

“We have also allocated Sh525 million on education where we expect infrastructural development, improved informal employment, ECDE management and infrastructure support services. On roads, Sh450 million has been set aside and we expect to see construction of more roads and bridges a part from rehabilitation of existing roads,” he added.

The county assembly received Sh544 million, County Executive (Sh405 million), Youth Gender and Culture (Sh 263 million), Agriculture and Livestock (Sh343 million).

Of the Sh6 billion budgetary estimates, only 33 per cent will be used for development while a whopping 67 per cent will be used for recurrent expenditure.
