Nakuru Public Health department has dispersed 40 extension workers at Pondamali, Rhonda and Bondeni to create public awareness on cholera.
The move comes amidst an outbreak of the disease in the area which claimed four lives.
County Public Health Officer Samuel King’ori said that the move is meant to ensure residents take all the necessary measures to prevent contracting the disease.
Speaking to journalists in his office King’ori confirmed that there are nine cholera patients undergoing treatment at Nakuru main referral hospital.
King’ori said that the county government has already started initiatives to ensure that residents has clean water.
“We have already started issuing aqua tabs to residents. We are targeting at least 1000 people daily,” said King’ori.
He added Kingori open food hawking is still on ban in the county.
“It is unfortunate that its barely a week since we lost four people to mutura. We call on Kenyans to take caution on the kind of food they are consuming,” said King’ori.
