Acknowledging the developments from the vaccine in its Facebook page, the ministry assured parents and children that side effects are common, and just like other medications, the measles vaccine is no exception.

The governing body noted that side effects range from fever, rashes and irritation but allayed its confidence in the fact that the accompanying effects are never life threatening. However, the update also encouraged parents to ensure their kids get immunised against the ailment before the scheduled deadline, explaining the fact that failure to do so could mean that the deadly ailment could sooner than later knock at their doorsteps.

The ongoing vaccination is the largest campaign of its kind in Kenya and is targeted at reaching out to over 19 million eligible children across the country.
