Residents in Nakuru town have been advised to be careful with the milk they buy following discoveries that some traders use hydrogen peroxide to preserve the commodity.
County Public Health Officer Samuel Kingori said samples collected from milk being sold by some of the traders and a supermarket in the town revealed that the chemical is being used as a preservative.
He added that some of the samples collected during the operation have since been transferred to government laboratories in Nairobi for further analysis to ascertain if other chemicals are also being used by the traders.
This is not the first time the milk business in the county is hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons.
