Speaking to the traders at a hygiene training seminar in Juja on Tuesday, the public health officer Flora Gakui said that the foods are one of the major sources of income in the town and also can become one of the major hazards to the health of the residents and also the visitors.

She went on say that her officer has prosecuted some traders who have been selling their foods uncovered from dust and some who have not worn the overalls.

Gakui advised that food sellers should show the need for quality services and quality health to their customers.

“You should be the people who trace back hygiene by offering quality foods to your customers. Some of these big cafes you see in this town emanated from small sheds at the roadside and thus the customer is one of the greatest resources you can always treasure,” Gakui said.

She said that this year her office is expecting full participation by the traders and she also promised to facilitate more seminars to improve the hygiene and also improve the entrepreneurial skills among the food traders in the town.

The officer urged the trades to be good examples to other towns and they will also interest the residents for more customers.
