Fear today gripped Mama Ngina Secondary School in Rongai Constituency after 26 students were hospitalised in Langa Langa Health Centre with abdominal problems.

However, the medical officer in charge of Langa Langa Health Centre, Daniel Wainaina said they were not suffering from Cholera.

“We carried out tests on samples but they showed no cholera bacteria,” said Wainaina.

He said the students were admitted at the health facility complaining of stomach pains.

“We received students today complaining of stomach pains and vomiting after taking yesterday's dinner,” said Wainaina.

Wainaina said that the problem might have been caused by poor diet.

“The food the students consumed yesterday might be the cause of the abdominal pains,” noted Wainaina.

Upon visiting the school our reporter found the 200 students still in tension fearing a Cholera outbreak in the institution.

Mama Ngina Secondary School is day mixed school with over 200 students. It is located in Rongai Sub-county of Nakuru County.

Wainaia urged the school administration to improve hygiene in the school to avert out break of water borne diseases.

The incident comes at a time when cholera in Nakuru County has claimed over 10 lives.
