The workers claimed this has caused them pain, shame and suffering to their families.

They claimed they have not been able to meet their monthly bills or buy food for their families and some have been locked out of their rental houses by landlords, and not even able to pay their bus fare to reach their place of work.

The Kenya National Union of Nurses Kisumu Branch secretary general Maurice Opetu said no explanation has been given to the workers by Governor Jack Ranguma.

The workers demanded that all the unpaid salaries be paid to their accounts immediately failure to which they will continue assembling at the county offices until they are paid.

They also demanded that all their statutory deductions be remitted to the relevant institutions immediately and any penalties or accrued interests be paid by the county government.

The workers had claimed that despite their monies being deducted from their salaries as indicated in their pay slips every month, the same are either not remitted at all or remitted too late to their financial institutions, insurance, companies and professionals bodies.

The workers also demanded that the county chief finance officer should be relieved off such duties forthwith or be assigned to only deal with tendering/procurement and payment of contractors because he has miserably failed his responsibilities.
