Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that health workers serving under economic stimulus program, ESP will be employed permanently.
The governor made the announcement on April 6, 2016 while chairing a crisis meeting about health care provision in the county.
He said nurses and other health workers serving in the Economic Stimulus Program will be automatically included in the employment list.
In an effort to tackle the health crisis head on, the governor announced that the county, through the county public service board, will hire 800 nurses and 35 medical doctors.
Also to be employed permanently are contracted workers.The county of Machakos is aiming at providing standard health care to its people.
Some of the issues that ail the health sector in the county include lack of modern equipment, few nurses, doctors and specialists.
Lack of drugs and medicines has also dragged the county's efforts to provide affordable health care.
