Health workers in Marsabit County have signed a deal with the county government that will see them attend to patients suffering from malaria.According to governor Mohamud Ali,the deal will see the nurses assist such patients despite the ongoing nationwide strike.
"Our talks have been fruitful and we are looking forward to the input of our health workers to help alleviate this crisis", he said.
The county on Tuesday recorded two casualties of the mosquito-spread infection bringing the casualty tally to 25 in a span of two weeks.County Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) chairman Robert Matimo said it was because of such a situation that they had agreed to climb down from their demands and help alleviate the situation.
Malaria continues to wreak havoc across the country where it has reportedly claimed over 70 lives with Baringo, West Pokot and Marsabit bearing the greatest brunt.
