Taking time apart actually helps a lot as opposed to how most people may consider it.With time apart, both of you can get to a point if self realization and see what brought up the argument, who is the cause and how you can get to work out the issue. You both get the opportunity to cool down and reason as mature people.
Going to bed angry is something that can raise a lot of debate on whether it is advisable or not but it actually helps. By the time you wake up in the morning, you would have probably forgotten what happened the previous day and both of you are ready to move on with your lives.
Never run away from your problem but please, run away from fights, by the time you get to the point of a heated argument, you know what type of person your partner is, never fight them. If they get heated up, you cool down to try and resolve things.
