Hearing of a petition challenging the election of Marakwet East Member of Parliament Bowen Kangogo begins on Monday at the Eldoret High Court.

The case will be heard by Judge George Kanyi Kimondo for five consecutive days.

A voter in Marakwet East constituency, Sammy Kemboi filed the petition which is seeking nullification of Bowen's win in the August 8 poll.

According to court documents, Kemboi claims parliamentary election in the constituency was marred by massive irregularities and illegalities.

The petitioner also wants the court to order of a vote recount to determine the accuracy and the exact number of votes garnered by each candidate.

He claims that Forms 35A's used in the area showed that Linah Jebii Kilimo had won but the IEBC used fictitious figures to declare Kangogo as the winner.

IEBC declared Kangago of Jubilee party as the winner with 14,812, while Kilimo, a former MP who vied as an independent candidate garnered 13,845.
