Residents of Kongasis village in Nakuru County were on Saturday evening marooned by floods following a heavy down pour in the area.
They are now urging the county government to build drainage trenches in the area to curb the menace which has bee terrorizing them for along time.
The irate residents said the entire village was flooded for the whole night, giving them sleepless night.
The further said they fear that they might contract diseases as a result of the floods, especially water borne diseases like cholera.
“We are afraid that we may contract diseases since the floods are excessive, look at how the water levels have increased,” said Davd Njenga a resident in the area.
Anne Wairimu, a business woman in the area said she was incurred losses as some of her items have been destroyed by the heavy down pour, urging the county government to construct trenches to save them from the problem.
Some of the residents had their houses blow off by the strong winds which accompanied the rain.
Few weeks ago, residents of Kivumbini and Manyan experienced the some problem when all roads heading to their homes were flooded causing inconveniences
The residents blamed poor drainage for the predicament, urging the county government to unblock the drainages to aid rainwater to run through.
