The main road connecting Masinga and Yatta sub-counties was not left behind either. The road has become impassable halting transport activities within the two sub-counties.

According to residents, the main contributing reason the road is dilapidated and in the current situation is due to sand harvesting activities which had become rampant in Masinga and were banned early this year.

"As a driver I use the road daily and whatever has happened to the road is very annoying. Even if sand harvesting activities were banned, action was taken during the wrong time when the road had already been spoilt,"said Paul Mutinda.

Residents said that the county government of Machakos has failed them as the road repair had been scheduled to commence in mid-2015 but no action has since been taken. They called upon the county government to hear their cries and save them from the traumatic experience.
