[Photo|KMD]Several parts of the country will start experiencing rainfall between October and December this year.The Kenya Meteorological Department has indicated that the season will be driven by the positive Indian Ocean dipole which enhances rainfall in the country.The Department's Director Peter Ambenje however indicated dry conditions would prevail over most parts of the country, for most of December. He said the rainfall would be favourable for agricultural activities and further advised farmers to take advantage of the season and maximise crop production.

The weatherman also warned that diseases associated with excessive water such as Malaria may emerge in various parts of the country, including flush floods that would halt transport operations especially during rush hours.Addressing the press and stakeholders, Tuesday, Ambenje however noted that the rains would increase water levels in dams and improve water resources in urban areas such as Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Garissa, Kisumu and Eldoret.He said this would also improve the capacity of hydroelectric power generation.

On his part, Francis Nguatah, County Meteorological Director Nyeri County thanked participants for attending the forecast release.
