Livestock farmers in Balambala Constituency have recorded massive losses brought about by the ongoing heavy rains.
Reports indicate that hundreds of goats and sheep have perished in the past few days in stormy rains at Shimbirey area.
It if further reported that the weak and emaciated flocks that had braved through the recent drought froze to death in heavy downpour over the weekend.
The bizarre weather struck the herds separately, where a number of them died in a day cloudburst near Shimbirey watering point, while tens of others perished in an endless night deluge that hit them in their open shelter.
According to the locals, the freezing herds had huddled together for warmth before finally dying out in the sudden weather change.
One of the affected livestock farmers Mr Isnino Omar said the incident caught him unawares, describing it a very strange phenomenon.
The affected locals are now appealing to intervene and offer them support in compensation after losing their main source of livelihood to the sudden weather fluctuations.
